This year we want to celebrate the cultural diversity that is present in the orchestra. We are going to invite the students of the different groups of DO to explore the cultural heritage of each other, through the creation of narratives and short stories created by themselves.
By motivating and engaging students in storytelling and playing a specific artistic repertoire based on traditional music from Sweden and other world cultures, they become protagonists in the joint celebration of their traditions through music and word.
This project will be supported by Betlehemskyrkan, the University of Gothenburg, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and guided by traditional music specialists from Sweden, Afghanistan, the Middle East, South America and Africa, storytelling specialists, cultural heritage, performance and acting, a varied sequence of multicultural repertoire connected with the accompanying stories will be created, written, performed in multiple places and recorded.
Dream Orchestra looks forward to sharing this material with other music education programs in Sweden and their students.
