On February 11th, at 18:00, in the Stora Salen of Göteborgs Konserthus, the piece “Preambule for the orchestra and piano”, written by our pianist Tim Slakva, will have its premiere. The piece is a kind of prelude for the orchestra, and it is based on Ukrainian national themes, inspired by Ukrainian and Slavic national music. The piece will be performed by Tim alongside young musicians aged 11 to 19 from Gothenburg, who come together each year for Sportlovsorkestern.
In addition, this will be the first time that Ron Davis Alvarez, founder and artistic director of Dream Orchestra, conducts the popular winter orchestra entirely on his own. The orchestra will hold rehearsals and sectionals between February 8th and 11th.
This year, there are two levels of orchestras: Sportlovsorkestern Junior, a strings-only orchestra for musicians aged 11 to 14, which will rehearse shorter days and later join the main Sportlovsorkestern (for musicians aged 13 to 19) to perform three pieces together. 32 Dream Orchestra students will participate in this edition.
The final concert will take place on Tuesday, February 11th, at 18:00, in the Stora Salen of Göteborgs Konserthus. Tickets are available on the gso.se website. The repertoire includes works by Telemann ("Sinfonia in A minor"), Prado("Mambo No. 5"), Newbold ("Viking"), Brahms ("Hungarian Dances"), Sibelius ("Finlandia"), and Preambule by Tim Slakva.
