Misuzu Cassegård

Misuzu Cassegård

Coordinator at Betlehemskyrkan

Misuzu moved from Japan to Gothenburg 19 years ago. She has played various instruments since childhood. From the early days of Dream Orchestra, she has been part of this community, first as a parent and volunteer. Today, she teaches violin to children aged 3 to 6 in the Vivaldi and Mozart groups, and supports rehearsals by playing alongside the older students. As coordinator, she is responsible for daily logistics, preparing music scores, and maintaining instruments.

In her own words:

“I myself started playing the viola, my main instrument, as an adult. And there are many DO students who began playing instruments later in life, not necessarily as children. That’s why I always want to emphasise that age doesn’t matter when it comes to learning an instrument. For me, enjoying music is the most important thing, whether simple or complex, because I can’t ask my kids to do something I don’t enjoy myself. My goal is to create a space where people can enjoy music together, even if they are at different stages of learning. I would be happy if they could experience the joy of sharing something and enjoying it together through DO’s activities.”
