At DO, teaching always takes place in group settings — for example, in string sectionals, violin, cello or flute workshops, brass ensembles, percussion groups, and ultimately in the symphony orchestra.

For a teacher arriving at DO for the first time, this requires significant adaptation. It can feel challenging, but under the guidance of our Artistic Director and founder, Ron Davis Alvarez, teachers learn in practice to become skilled section leaders and orchestra trainers.

Their backgrounds are as diverse as DO’s community: some have graduated from the Master’s programme at the University of Stage and Music in Gothenburg, others come from El Sistema programmes, and now a first group of students who grew up musically in Dream Orchestra are training as apprentice teachers.
