“I was 14 when I started teaching and 16 when directing two ‘núcleos’ in Venezuela: Guarenas and Guatire. But I found out that I wanted to be a teacher when I came to Greenland in 2011. Without speaking English or Kalaallisut, I managed to put together an orchestra at the Uummannaq Children’s House in two weeks. I have trained teachers of more than 23 nationalities. Teaching at the Dream Orchestra is an opportunity to show new educational practices with passion, energy, discipline, love and attitude, and it has become the safe place for all of us who live there.”
Ron received the 2020 award for Best Music Pedagogue from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music; and in 2017 he was selected among the 50 best teachers in the world by the Global Teacher Prize awarded by the Varkey Foundation.
