Oliva, Dan, Río, Annika and Hjalmar represented Dream Orchestra and Sweden at the International summit “Chords of Harmony“. Together with more than 200 young musicians, representing 17 youth orchestra programs from the USA, UK, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France, Venezuela, Switzerland and Sweden, they presented an open rehearsal on Monday, May 27, led by the Venezuelan maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
The modernist stage of the Palau de la Música Catalana, in Barcelona, Spain, was the setting for this open rehearsal in which they followed Maestro Dudamel's instructions, rehearsing Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and the “Ode to Joy choral” from the Ninth Symphony. With this presentation, the rehearsals and social activities that took place from May 24 - 26 at the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña came to an end.
Olivia and Dan, playing first violin; Río and Annika, cello, and Haljmar, bassoon, were accompanied by Dream Orchestra’s trumpet teacher and leader of DO’s program in Alingsås, Daniel González and Franka Verhagen, DO’s project manager.
They took part in workshops for knowledge exchange and meetings that reinforced our community network with directors and teachers from the other programs.
For Rio it was an enriching experience. "It was incredible! I loved this experience! “Opportunities like these motivate me to continue practicing and improving!”
Annika arrived full of new knowledge: “The trip to Barcelona was very fun. I really liked meeting other people who have the same interests as me. I learned a lot of new things!”
For Dream Orchestra it has been a huge recognition to participate in this social and musical initiative that was organized by Acción por la Música, YOLA (the social project of LA PHil, conducted by maestro Dudamel) and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
