As part of the celebration of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union, six Dream Orchestra students will participate in the Démos Europe Orchestra, which brings together 120 young musicians from the 27 member states of the European Union.
On the 19th of February, Larissa, Lisette, Klara and Anna, violin; Tommy, cello; and Aurian, trumpet will travel to Paris, where they will be received at the Paris Philharmonic for an intense round of rehearsal sessions to be conducted by Corinna Niemeyer and Rebecca Tong, winner of the international prize La Maestra 2020.
Dream Orchestra’s students, and the rest of the members of the Démos, have been preparing the repertoire for the concert that includes excerpts from Pictures at an Exhibition, by Modeste Moussorgsky; extracts from Peer Gynt, by Edward Grieg, Ritmos Ciganos; Freedom, She Yells!, by Alexandros Markeas; and Symphony No. 9 – Ode to Joy, by Ludwig van Beethoven
The concert of the Démos Europe Orchestra will take place on February 26 at the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez of the Paris Philharmonic, together with 150 choristers from the boys' choir of the “Orchestre de Paris”, as well as from the EVE project (which in French means “Together we exist with our voice”) to close the concert with the European anthem.
In 2010, the “Cité de la musique – Paris Philharmonic” started Démos, a musical and orchestral education outreach program, offering to teach classical orchestral music to children who, for economic, geographical or social reasons, rarely have access to it.
