Rita Grácio, sociologist, and Beatriz Machado a young artist and illustrator from Portugal, spent two weeks visiting the different Dream Orchestra programs as part of the research led by researcher Alix Sarrouy at the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Music & Dance (INET-md), of the Nova University of Lisbon.
The objective of the project called “You Sound” is to understand “the potential of the use of music as a means for the social inclusion of young refugees and their full development in new social contexts”. This study becomes relevant due to the number of refugees who have arrived in Europe in recent years fleeing from the horror of their countries. Part of this research is to study if there are "psycho-sociological" processes that improve the quality of life of people so that they can participate in the societies in which they now live.
Both Rita and Beatriz witnessed the development of the different Dream Orchestra programs. Beatriz held a drawing workshop during her stay in Gothenburg.
